Who We Are

The Independent Times is a North American-focused (United-States & Canada) online media provider. As our name suggests, we are privately owned and are free from any ideological, financial, or political bondage. Our content consists mainly of analysis of and commentary on the important economic, political, and current affairs issues of the day.  

Our Goal

The Independent Times’ goal is to serve as a refreshing alternative to the large, corporate media companies who are compromised by financial and political influences, and whose coverage of issues is as a result biased and misleading. These media sources also consequently tend to shield political and business decision-makers from adequate scrutiny. This all causes and exacerbates the hyper-polarized, unproductive, team sport-nature of current political discourse.   

Instead of worsening the political culture, the press’ role should be to improve it, and thus facilitate the democratic process. And it is this responsibility of the press which we intend to fulfil. This means that we are committed to providing news, opinion, and analysis in a manner that is well-meaning, sober, fact-based, and non-partisan. Through this we hope to bring about nuance, which is so crucial but so often lost in today’s media, and politics in general. Moreover, we commit to holding all political and business decision makers to account, irrespective of party, business, or ideological affiliations. If we are successful in our aims, our readership will be composed of people of varying perspectives, who leave the site with a new perspective.
